Colorado Medicaid eConsult Program

2024 Enrollment and Utilization

Since launching the Colorado Medicaid eConsult Platform on 2/1/24, we have seen a higher rate of enrollment and increased utilization of the platform. Over 500 eConsults have been submitted! This growth demonstrates the impact of our collective work in transforming care delivery for Colorado. Check out the bar charts below to see the current percentage of enrolled practices per RAE and the number of submitted eConsults for our highest utilized specialties.

eConsult Supporting Documentation: Key Tips for Success

Navigate to the User Guides and Info section from within the eConsult Platform to access and download helpful short Job Aids designed to support you throughout the eConsult process. The Supporting Documentation Guide offers valuable recommendations on the attachments to include when submitting eConsults for specific specialties. By including these recommended documents with your initial eConsult submission, you can provide specialists with the information needed for a more effective recommendation regarding next steps in care.

Fun Fact

Congratulations to CCHA’s RAE 7 for having submitted the most eConsults this year! They were closely followed by RAE 4 (Health Colorado Inc.) and CCHA’s RAE 6.

eConsult Provider Spotlight

Peak Family Practice is a locally owned, small, independent practice in Colorado Springs. Leslie Dawdy, FNP at Peak Family Practice, provided the following feedback after submitting multiple eConsults across 12 specialties:

“At Peak Family Practice we appreciate Colorado Medicaid eConsult. Over the past 12 months we have noticed that the wait times to get our patients into the appropriate specialties has become longer and more difficult to navigate. Our patients typically have multiple barriers to getting in to see a specialist. Peak Family Practice recognizes that Primary Care will manage many conditions during that wait time. We are now able to utilize eConsult to address our concerns and seek guidance from a specialist in a timely manner. This access to care resource has saved our patients time as well as decrease any delay or gap in care that may have otherwise occurred. The use of this invaluable resource undoubtedly increases the rate of access to specialty care saving healthcare time and dollars while simultaneously increasing the quality of care delivered. We love Colorado Medicaid’s new eConsult platform because it helps us help our patients.”
